About the Event

It’s not often that four outstanding double bassists come together to celebrate the great music of the last century. These four highly talented young musicians regularly perform with various orchestras across Germany. On February 10th, they will unite to celebrate the music of Dvořák, Bruckner, Piazzolla, Barber, and Freddie Mercury with the audience! An evening not to be missed and one to remember.

Detlev Glanert – *4 Quartets for 4 Double Basses*: 1. Ballad; 2. Waltz; 3. Chanson; 4. Romance

Astor Piazzolla – *Adios Nonino* (Arr. A. Wiebecke-Gottstein)

Antonín Dvořák – *From Symphony No. 9*, 2. Largo (Arr. Dominik Wagner)

From 6:00 PM: Doors open with access to the current exhibition.

7:00 PM: Concert begins.

8:30 PM: Dinner begins at Café Bar Brass, featuring a special three-course menu with wine pairings, prepared by Chef Reza Daeinabi.

About the Musicians

Dominik Wagner

A recipient of the Anne-Sophie Mutter Foundation scholarship and winner of the ECHO and Opus Klassik awards, double bassist Dominik Wagner presents his instrument in new dimensions worldwide. He has won prizes in nearly all major double bass competitions, including the prestigious ARD Music Competition, Eurovision Young Musicians, and the International Bradetich Competition. Dominik has performed with renowned orchestras such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, WDR Symphony Orchestra, Zurich Chamber Orchestra, Camerata Salzburg, and the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, in venues like the Vienna Musikverein, Berlin Konzerthaus, Munich’s Herkulessaal, and Carnegie Hall.

Todor Marković

Award-winning young musician Todor Marković has performed with top orchestras and ensembles, including the Vienna Philharmonic, WDR Symphony Orchestra, Vienna Symphony Orchestra, BandArt, and Ensemble Mini. He has also appeared at the Stift International Chamber Music Festival in the Netherlands and the Franconian Music Days. As a soloist, he has performed multiple times with the Slovenian Philharmonic. Since 2021, Todor has served as the principal double bassist of the NDR Radiophilharmonie.

José Trigo

During his studies, José Trigo gained orchestral experience with the European Union Youth Orchestra, Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, Orquestra Gulbenkian, Georgian Chamber Orchestra Ingolstadt, and Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn. He has won the International Instrumental Competition Markneukirchen and the Galicia Graves Double Bass Competition in Spain, and he is also a prizewinner at the J.M. Sperger and Serge Koussevitzky Competitions. Since 2019, José has been a member of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, and since 2022, he has been the deputy principal double bassist.

Felix Leissner

During his studies, Felix Leissner gained artistic experience performing with professional and youth orchestras in Germany and Romania, as a soloist and chamber musician, and through participation in masterclasses and competitions. He is a prizewinner of the Competition for Ostracized Music in Schwerin and a recipient of the German National Academic Foundation. In 2021, Felix was appointed principal double bassist of the Gewandhaus Orchestra in Leipzig.
