"Cello Duello" is both the name and program, a musical competition that the two artists carry out on stage. "Cello Duello - that sounds damn martial. But none of it. The gentlemen Jens Peter Maintz and Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt lead weighty "weapons" and a virtuoso bow into the sweeping battle, but practice more in cooperation than against each other. Jens Peter Maintz and Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt have been performing together on the stages of this world for over 30 years as a "cello duel" and have been guests at all important cello festivals: at the Kronberg Festival, the Amsterdam Biennale, Musical Viva Moscow or, for example, the International Piatigorsky Cello Festival in Los Angeles. They performed in the Konzerthaus Berlin and the Wiener Musikverein and presented a varied, highly virtuoso fireworks of cellistic joy of playing and sound art.
