this summer we invite you to connect to artist communities through a series of exhibitions, concerts, talks, workshops, and roundtable discussions taking place in the heart of Berlin's Friedrichshain, nestled between the East Side Gallery and the Spree. Together with our partners, we have curated a multidisciplinary program to enrich your summer experience in Berlin.

  • Highlights of NOACK Werkstattgalerie Collection

    German sculptures are predominantly associated with the multigenerational Noack family. Bildgiesserei Hermann Noack has been instrumental in the creation of works by artists such as Barlach, Kolbe, Kollwitz, Moore, Craig, and many others. This summer, you can witness the highlights of their in-house collection at the Summer Arts Lounge.

  • Peter K. Koch

    Exclusively for the Sumer Arts Lounge, Berlin artist Peter K. Koch is developing a site-specific, sculptural-architectural spatial work (courtesy of Galerie Kuckei + Kuckei, Berlin).

  • Barbara Probst

    Barbara Probst is currently one of the most important artists in contemporary photography. Her works consist of several photographs that show the same subject from different perspectives at the same time. The work Exposure #36: Munich studio, 09.26.05, 2:34 p.m., 2005 will be on display throughout summer a the arts sumer lounge.

  • Special Photo Project "Unraveling Identities of Ghetto Classics"

    An experimental photo project by the Althafen Foundation team and the 2024 Scholarship Recipient Cezary Rucki (photography) will present a series of photographs taken around the slums of Korogocho (Kenya), unraveling the identities of Ghetto Classics’ participants. Ghetto Classics utilizes the power of music to change the lives of the next generations of Korogocho inhabitants.

  • Reconstruction of the wall artwork by Mirta Domacinovic

    Her works, especially those displayed on the wall at the East Side Gallery, depict symbols of war, torture, rape, and dictatorship. During the festival, she will host a week-long residency, reconstructing her artworks at the East Side Gallery.

  • Trökes Archiv

    Trökes Archiv

    The Trökes Archive is a private initiative with the aim of preserving the work and artistic legacy of Heinz Trökes and making it accessible to the general public. Selected works from the Archive will be presented at the summer arts lounge.

    Jazz Programing

    Almost every evening at Arts Summer Lounge get celebrated with a remarkable jazz performance from world renowned artists as well as local stars. Our programming partner ZigZag Jazz Club will take over the space during these nights, turning our interdesciplinary space into a jazz club on the river.

  • Screenings

    Screenings

    From documentaries to spotlights unraveling artists that shaped the current arts scene such is with Jutta Brückner. We curated a summer-long program full of surprises from our filming partners. Verita Baroque will showcase their immersive films in virtual reality, while ConcertLab filming studio will share some of their highlights from the classical music films catalogue.

  • Performance Spotlights

    From Baroque to Contemporary classical music, we are proud to present concerts of young and already established soloists and ensembles in an informal salon-like atmosphere of our interdesciplinary space.

  • Artist Talks

    As a foundation, we are at a unique position to share with you the behind-the-scenes of the arts industry. Through a series of artist talks, presentations and receptions, we are hoping to let berlin community connect with the artists from near and far.

Summer Arts Lounge for kids

In addition to conducting limited number of guided tours for local schools, we are thrilled to house the artistic project by Clavis Art School for talented youth called “Vinyl Rendition”.

In collaboration with this wonderful initiative, we will celebrate the International Children Day on June 1st.

    Summer Arts Lounge is spanning over two showroom spaces of the newly opened Pier 61|64 building between East Side Gallery and Spree promenade.

    Accessibility and Navigation:

    You can access the spaces through the entrance from the East Side Gallery side, or via promenade. The address of the building is Mühlenstraße 63, 10243 Berlin. Follow the navigation posted throughout the building.

    Parking:

    Our building does not offer an indoor parking, however it is possible to find along the East Side Gallery, as well as in the near proximity of it.

  • Summer Arts Lounge is operating every day of the summer from 11:00-21:00.

    Admission is FREE to public throghout the day. Tickets are required to attend concerts and special events. For schedule of ticketed events, please click here.
