Artist in Residence 2024: Lera Auerbach

ALTHAFEN Foundation is delighted to announce that Lera Auerbach has been selected as the AHF Artist in Residence for the year 2024. Recognised as a renaissance artist for modern times, Lera Auerbach stands as a multifaceted figure in the world of classical music and beyond. Renowned as a conductor, pianist, and composer, Auerbach's talents extend even further, encompassing award-winning poetry and captivating visual art. Her diverse body of work reflects a cohesive and comprehensive artistic vision that captivates audiences worldwide.

Continuing their dedication to fostering artistic excellence, ALTHAFEN Foundation is proud to announce their support for Auerbach's latest endeavor: Symphony No. 6, "Vessels of Light." This monumental work, composed for violoncello, choir, and orchestra, is set to receive its highly anticipated U.S. premiere at the prestigious Carnegie Hall. Commissioned by Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center in Jerusalem, Symphony No. 6 pays tribute to Japanese diplomat Chiune Sugihara, whose heroic efforts saved thousands of lives during the Holocaust.

Building upon the success of the Verità Baroque Ensemble (our last year's Artist in Residence,) ALTHAFEN Foundation continues its tradition of championing exceptional talent and fostering artistic innovation. With Lera Auerbach at the helm, the foundation looks forward to a year filled with groundbreaking performances, thought-provoking exhibitions, and unparalleled artistic exploration.

Stay tuned for updates and announcements as Lera Auerbach embarks on her residency with ALTHAFEN Foundation, shaping the cultural landscape and inspiring audiences around the globe.
